Paul Heller is a Bay Area playwright with eight productions locally and nationwide, ranging from large-cast equity epics about China and Mexico to shadow and Bunraku puppet theatre, to the present small-cast project. He has taught literature in Mexico, Venezuela, the Bahamas, Italy, and in Northern California. His work is highly influenced by the street theatre, culture, and languages he's experienced. His plays have been seen at Z-Space, One4All Theater Company, The Asian American Theater Company, and Novato Theater Company. He has also traveled to New York, Los Angeles, and Indiana with the Ministry of Objects Traveling Puppet Theater. He has twice been awarded residencies at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program where he wrote Scavengers, a play about orphans living on our border with Mexico.
